The sand version of its "big brother" has long since become a sport in its own right. Beach volleyball is now an Olympic team sport from the group of backstroke games, in which two teams of two players face each other on a sand court divided by a net. The aim of the game is to pass a ball over the net onto the floor of the opponent's half of the court or to force the opposing team to make a mistake.
